KARA’s Gyuri attends press conference for new musical, ‘200 Pounds Beauty’

On July 29th, KARA’s leader Gyuri (23) and her fellow actors/singers attended a press conference for their new musical, “Bijou wa Tsurai no” (Being Beautiful Is Painful), also known as “200 Pounds Beauty”. The musical is based off of Suzuki Yumiko’s manga, “Kanna-san Daiseikou Desu!”, and it’s also been turned into a popular Korean film as well.
The story is about a heavyset woman with an amazing voice, who secretly does the singing voice for a big pop star. With special make-up and a suit, Gyuri will be transformed into the 125kg (275 lb) singer. She commented, “I’m really looking forward to meeting the Japanese fans who have seen a different image of me up until now.”
Supernova’s Sungje (24) will be playing opposite Gyuri as a music producer. “We want to arrange everything perfectly so that all of the Japanese people can see a fantastic performance,” he said.
The musical will be held in Osaka from October 8th to November 6th.

KARA’s Seungyeon thanks her fans for their presents


KARA’s Seungyeon recently thanked her fans for their presents!
On July 28th, Seungyeon tweeted, “Thank you to all the Kamilias who give us big support! We will split it up and eat it well!” and uploaded the above picture.
The presents were sent in support of Seungyeon becoming the MC for SBS ‘TV Animal Farm’. In the picture, fans were able to see Seungyeon smiling happily next to the tall stacks of presents.

KARA’s Hara thanks cast and staff of ‘City Hunter’


On July 28th, KARA’s Hara shared her thoughts on her recently-concluded drama, ‘City Hunter‘.
Immediately after the final broadcast, Hara took to her Twitter to express, “All of the ‘City Hunter’ staff members worked so hard. Director, seniors, and actors, you all worked hard.  Thank you.”
She then attached a ‘family photo’ of the entire cast and production staff, who gathered for a final group shot together to commemorate the drama’s end.
Netizens commented back, “Hara, you worked hard too”, “I enjoyed the final episode of ‘City Hunter’,and “Looking forward to seeing what you’ll be doing next!”

KARA’s Seungyeon cries over kittens on her new show, ‘TV Animal Farm’


On July 29th, SBS revealed that KARA’s Seungyeon was officially cast as an MC for their popular animal program, ‘TV Animal Farm‘.
Representatives of SBS said, “After Shinji departed from the program, stars like f(x)’s Sulli, After School’s Kahi and LizzyBrown Eyed Girls’ Narsha, and many others have been acting as one-day MCs. However, we have finally made the final decision of casting Seungyeon to join the cast of MCs.”
Producers of the show revealed that Seungyeon was a perfect fit for the program, as she’s known for her love of animals; she also has lot of personal experience with raising dogs and hedgehogs.

Her first duty as an MC for the program was to visit an animal rescue scene.
After receiving reports of a baby kitten being near death one night, Seungyeon and the producers headed directly to the scene to help with rescue efforts.
Upon arrival, Seungyeon discovered a kitten injured from what seemed like an accident. After close inspection of the area, she was able to discover the mother cat and her kittens.

Unfortunately, the mother was dead, which the kittens did not know. After seeing the kittens continue to search for her embrace, Seungyeon couldn’t help but burst into tears.
Although she wanted to rush the rescue efforts, the producers were wary of the kittens’ conditions, especially since they could have been infected. To prevent further accidents from occurring, Seungyeon cautiously watched over the kittens until a rescue team arrived in the early morning.

KARA’s Seungyeon shows off her baby-faced beauty


KARA’s Han Seungyeon recently uploaded selca pictures that displayed her baby-faced beauty.
On July 28th, Seungyeon shared the pictures through her Twitter, and wrote, “On the way to my schedule. I really don’t know how long it will take. I’ve only ever lived in Seoul, but this is my first time seeing it like this. I hope everyone is safe. Fighting!”
Seungyeon is seen looking into the camera with cute expressions on her face. Netizens were especially attracted to the fact that Seungyeon looked much younger than her actual age.
They commented, “Really cute”, “Seriously, how old are you?”, and “Come back safely.”

KARA to make a comeback in September


KARA is rumored to be making a Korean comeback this September!
According to industry representatives, the girls are currently working on their third official album with a planned release date for September. While they’re busy promoting their new Japanese single, “Go Go Summer“, they’re spending every spare moment they can to record new songs.
This marks their first comeback in nearly 10 months since their last release with “Jumping” back in November. As it is also their first comeback since the lawsuit, fans are ecstatic over the news.
KARA will stand alongside SNSD and the Wonder Girls‘ September comebacks.

KARA sets another Oricon record with “Go Go Summer”


Girl group KARA has set yet another milestone for themselves in Japan!
KARA’s fourth Japanese single, “Go Go Summer“, has sold 114,000 copies during its first week of release. As of July 11th, it’s in second place on the Oricon Weekly Chart.
“Go Go Summer” is KARA’s second single to sell over 100,000 copies during its first week, following their third single, “Jet Coaster Love“, which sold 123,000 copies during its first week.
This is a first for any foreign female artist in the Oricon Singles rankings.
With this new addition to their growing list of accomplishments, KARA’s “Mister“, “Jumping“, “Jet Coster Love”, and “Go Go Summer” have all made it to the top five in the Oricon rankings chart.

KARA‘S Gyuri returned to her high school days by donning a school uniform!
On July 6th, the idol tweeted, “Today is the day…I lost to Shindong oppa at a ‘Don’t Hang Up’ face-off for ‘Shim Shim Ta Pa‘ so I wore a school uniform all day while carrying out my schedule. I took a picture to prove that I was fulfilling my punishment…. Today fighting!!! Anyways this is really the first time wearing a uniform in 5 years; Kakkk.
The photo attached to the tweet amazed fans with its charming innocence. Gyuri’s bare face and natural hairstyle made the idol seem just like any other student.
She added, “It feels different from being outside and staying in the house. What do I do? What do I do? Ah mother. Something’s embarrassing.
